In other climes Abba Moro, David Parradang, would have resigned without prodding and tender an unreserved apology, on its part the federal government would have declared a three days national mourning, after which all monies collected would be refunded and families of the deceased paid compensation and the deceased giving national honors for answering the clarion call, even though this call was crookish, criminal and fraudulent and laced with mischief and death.
But I doubt, at least, not under Jonathan!
The recent immigration job recruitment screening exercise has come but will never go like that, not with the number of innocent unsuspecting and vulnerable Nigerian youth it has sent to their early graves.
I was present at the Minna centre of the screening exercise along with other journalists who came to observe the event but each and every one of us agreed, this was a crazy way of conducting a screening exercise, first the arrangement was shoddy and the organizers were not even there leaving the immigration officials who have been mobilized to provide security with a large number of applicant to cope with, with a maddening crowd of over 15000 applicants and just about 100 immigration officers and that of the prison service to provide security, the pressure was mounting as only one entrance was let open, and yet the screening of eligible applicants was been done at the gate, it was a sure banker that disaster was just waiting to happen before you could say Talba! The push has got to shove and then the stampede started.
By the time it was over, five applicants were lying unconscious, and many more were still been rushed to hospital due to exhaustion and stress, yet the screening did not commence.
The whole idea of screening applicants at a centre was a farce with an intentional bottle neck created so as to make the whole charade look like a serious and transparent process.
In reaching this conclusion, let me attempt to look at the following issues, total number of space available to be filled, online registration, screening centre, eligibility fees, total number of applicants and many more.
TOTAL NUMBER OF SPACE AVAILABLE SPACE
The ministry of interior headed by Mr. Abba Moro and the controller general of the immigration service, I am very sure knows the total number of spaces available to be filled, infact some people put it at about 4000 spaces nationwide, ok lets break it here considering the Nigeria factor where a senator, representative, a minister, a governor, assembly member, traditional rulers, and so on and on will have their slot in the exercise, an average of 100 space for each state will be filled with those who have the so called Nigerian “long leg” and for the sake of clarity those who fall into this category will not be among the poor youth who went for the screening but yet, Abba Moro and his gang of crooks in uniform did not see this but choose to slaughter and turn around and blame the Nigerian jobless youth for inpatient.
ONLINE REGISTRATION
If registration was done online, why not exams online? After all, JAMB do it, banks too do it, NIMC did it and many more, But to further take the contempt to their door step , Abba Moro and his gang decided he wanted to see the face of the suffering Nigerian youth, suffer the more, thought it wise to gather them in the state capitals and then crushed. But that is after muscling out one thousand naira from each applicant, as at last reports, a whooping 2billion was realized and even as I write this not a kobo has been remitted into the federation account, most likely going to get missing just like the $20billion oil revenue and billions of naira pension fund and plus the 1.3 trillion subsidy funds, all these should be enough to provide jobs for all those who applied for the 419 immigration vacancies and many more, but I forgot this is Nigeria and under Jonathan, nothing will happen after all even Boko haram members are in his government, talkless of crooks and criminals.
SCREENING CENTRES
In the history of the world, never have we heard that exams are ever held in the stadium, yet Abba Moro and his gang broke that record, but from that, it was clear they knew the number of applicants they are expecting and made “adequate arrangement” for the stadium, but then if I may ask, are there writing tables for writing in the stadium? If no why did they then take the exams to the stadium? My answer is thus; they collected enough money but couldn’t justify the collections and had to organize a charade to give semblance of legality to the criminality but it has failed and all involve should face the rhythm.
ELIGIBILITY FEES
Not even banks, with their greed for money, charges fees for recruitment, but Abba Moro and his gang did, they collected billions through Surrogate Company, called Drexel whose ownership is linked to the wives of Abba Moro and David Mark, (Though Mrs. mark denies). In some states even the state controllers do not know what arrangements where on the ground for the exercise, but the monies have been collected and pocketed by smart cronies of the jonathanians administration.
FINAL THOUGHT
My fervent prayer, heart and thought goes out to the families of those who lost loved ones, but this most not go unchallenged neither will we forget nor forgive, as this is one recruitment murder, too many, the authority most come with its full force to show Nigerians that it is not part of the conspiracy to kill the Nigeria youth for no just cause, it is imperative also that all men of good will and reasoning most condemn this act of callousness and thievery from unsuspecting and vulnerable citizens.
